Want to show one of your model horses as an "Akhal Teke," but aren't sure what the breed standards for conformation and color are?
Renowned for their unusual rainbow of metallic coat colors, this breed is a "Greyhound" among equines! Golden buckskins and palominos are highly favored in this breed, although the Teke is "breed organization approved" in many, many other colors as well, including an entire "range" of the "dilute" coat colors!
Check out this racy and elegant desert Turkmen Horse Breed on the following websites:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akhal-Teke
http://www.equinepost.com/resources/breeds/showBreed.asp?ID=106
Check here under "Photo Teke", for many beautiful colored photos of Tekes! Click on the photos, and follow the Teke coloring, for 3 generations! See where each coat color originates in that particular line!)
Check here under "Breed Standard", and then under "Colors of the Akhal Teke"!
Remember, when showing your model as an Akhal Teke, having documentation along for your model along is always a good idea, even if you only need it occasionally!
Happy Teke Showing!
