emptyemptyommer Prosser has created a number of limited edition resins, and has also sculpted several pieces for Breyer.

Like many artists in the model horse hobby, Sommer started out by customizing Breyer models. She began customizing modelsÊin the late 1980's under the tutelage of artist Chris Nandell, then known as Chris Cook, when both lived in the Kansas City area. Sommer was just 12 when she began customizing work, and sculpted her first horse from scratch at age 17.

Later, at age 18,Êshe moved back to Phoenix, in her home state of Arizona. She met up with Breyer artist Kathleen Moody, who also resides in AZ. Kathleen helped her immensely by introducing her to new methods and materials for sculpting horses from scratch. At age 19 she began the original sculpture that would later become "Rejoice" the Breyer NSH model, although it was stuffed in a closet for four years until she finished it at age 23 and finally submitted it to Breyer.

Since then, she has sculpted the following models for Breyer's plastic line: Zippo Pine Bar, Rejoice, Strapless, and the Miniature Horse, and a Classic scale family of Morgans. Sommer and Kathleen officially teamed up for the first time with Breyer's "Bluegrass Bandit" TWH sculpture that was released toÊBreyer's Traditional plastic lineÊin 2008.

Sommer has also sculpted several items for Breyer's porcelain and resin line, as well as the entire "Beautiful Breeds" holiday ornament series. Other commercial work includes items for the company Sandicast and The Trail of Painted Ponies.

She released her first limited edition resin, "Timothy" in 1997 and may other limited editions and collaborative works in resin have followed since.

Sommer is also an accomplished painter, and has painted many other artist's works that have gone on to win high honors, including many local champions, and several NAN Champions with her paintwork, in both the Breed and Workmanship categories. She works in airbrush, and has also designed several paintÊfinishes for the Breyer line on their products.
