Welcome to the
VICKIE MEADER GALLERY

empty emptyickie Meader "discovered" model horse collecting in the summer of 1994, after seeing a television spot about Breyerfest. Remembering her old childhood Breyers, she became curious. She and her husband, Duane Ridenhour then drove to Lexington on a whim to see what it was all about. She was totally overwhelmed, and that was just after spending one day at the Horse Park. She didn't even know about the Holiday Inn swap fest and room sales. While at Breyerfest, Vickie picked up one of the free Hobby Horse News editions, and subscribed to the magazine immediately after returning home. It was a valuable source of information. Being a graphic artist, the next step was repainting. It had been about 20 years since she had done any painting, and she didn't have a whole lot of luck until she purchased Carol Williams' book, Color Formulas and Techniques for the Model Horse Artist. This was, and continues to be a great aid to the artist.

Recently retired after a 30 year career as a graphic artist from The Boeing Company, Vickie is still an enthusiastic painter and remaker who enjoys attending Breyerfest every year, and takes in as many live shows as possible. She and Duane also enjoy distance running, and riding motorcycles. They live on a small farm near Huntsville, Alabama.
